The wide-stance design has thickness throughout the spoke area, but is completely recessed on the inside for weight reduction.

The rear wheel design, which is based on the 2.2 x 3.0" size combination, extends to the outer edges, giving the wheel a larger look on the inside but the scale drag racing size and look on the outside.
