TASTING NOTES
AROMA
An intense bouquet featuring scents of candied fruit, acacia blossom and a musky background. The scent of “violet” is quite unique.

PALATE
A high-altitude Moscato, full-bodied and velvety.

GRAPES/BLEND
100% Moscato Bianco di Canelli.

VINIFICATION
After harvesting, the ripe Moscato grapes undergo soft pressing. The product obtained is chilled to 0 °C to prevent fermentation. Each individual batch is filtered and put in a pressurised tank which retains the carbon dioxide and warms the product, which is still completely sugary, to a temperature of 15 °C. This promotes the fermentation process which is allowed to continue until an alcohol content of 5.5% vol. is reached. The product, which is now Moscato d’Asti, is chilled to a temperature of 0 °C to block fermentation. The wine is bottled at the beginning of November.

BORGO MARAGLIANO

Borgo Maragliano's 25 hectares of vineyard sit 450 metres above sea level, in the heart of Loazzolo on a natural terrace in the Langhe hills. In the spring a gentle sea breeze called the Marin crosses Loazzolo, tempering the night time temperatures, favouring the developing of the grapes' perfumes. The wines are vinified and packaged by members of the Galliano family, who maintain a high respect for tradition but at the same time employ the most modern vinification techniques, methods and equipment. This Moscato d'Asti is the result of careful and meticulous labour, representing the highest expression of this distinctive territory and of its soil.

A very-fast (and I think accurate) thermometer for tracking internal temps of cooking meat to insure doneness and that your meat is cooked to a safe temp. This is a very nice product. It works as advertised. It appears to be reasonably well made too. I'd give it 5 stars, but I have a few gripes that force me to subtract 1 star: 1) Price. While it appears to be pretty well made and is quite attractive in appearance, it doesn't quite have the feel and heft of a $109 gadget. It is at least twice the price of any other pro-level, instant-read thermometer available on Amazon. Hopefully it will provide years of accurate, durable, reliable use, befitting of its hefty price tag. 2) The screw on the battery compartment cover gave me fits. It took a little more elbow grease than I expected to get it to turn, making me more than a bit concerned that I might strip the screw. 3) The "Careful it's sharp" warning label affixed to the probe itself was practically *glued* on. I had to carefully use a razor blade to get it off, and even then, there was a lot of residual adhesive and bits of the label stuck to the probe--and under my thumbnail too! I had to take out my Goo Gone adhesive remover to clean the probe of the adhesive and leftover bits of label, and also to extract the crap out from under my thumbnail...these are NOT steps I wanted or needed to take to put this thing into service! Jeez! Anyway, I'll update this review after I get a few months of use out of the Typhur InstaProbe.
