From Simon Phipps' new series of five works centred on the staircase as sculptural object. Phipps has spent over 25 years photographing Britain's postwar modernist architecture, finding form, atmosphere and quiet drama in buildings most people pass without seeing. Trained as a sculptor, with a background in film, he brings a particular understanding of light, sequence and material to every image he makes.
